Multimedia projector or digital projector is the information visualization device directly
connected either to a computer signal source (PC or laptop, LAN, etc.)
instead
of a computer monitor (stationary PC monitor can be connected to a separate
output of your projector; your notebook`s display remains active), or to a video
signal source (video recorder, video camera, DVD-player, satellite TV system,
etc.) instead of a TV-set. The device provides image projection on
any size
screen, depending, of course, on the user`s choice and technical capabilities of
the projector correspondingly.
Contemporary projectors are characterized by compactness and little weight
(except those specially designed for stationary use); are not afraid of
transportation and are always ready for operation. The multimedia projector
requires no special programs, working with it resembles work with a PC monitor:
any projector likewise a PC monitor or a TV-set has adjustments of brightness
and contrast, shift of image to the left or to the right, etc. Digital
projectors need no complicated and frequent adjustments; they have only several
control buttons and a convenient screen menu (often in Russian).
The only part of projector subject to replacement is the projection lamp.
Multimedia projectors use special high brightness lamps with more even ? in
comparison with incandescent lamps ? spectrum. Average projection lamp life is
1500 ? 2000 hours of operational mode. Many projectors have so called ?Economy
mode of operation? function, which considerably increases lamp life time.
